This is a picture from Matt's 2500, which does not have the overload springs that my 3500 has (see previous slide).  After blocking the truck to prevent movement, remove the U-bolts and jack up the spring assembly while allowing the axle and wheel to stay on the ground.  As shown here, there are two bolts (with round heads) that secure the springs and spacers together.  The center stub between the bolts is a simple plastic pin that is removed from the spacers and inserted in a similar hole in the lower spring. 

Jack up the spring assembly enough to remove the bolts and spacers.  In my case, I had to put a block between the axle and spacers so that I could raise the jack to get enough height to remove the bolts.  One of the bolts on my trucks would spin when I attempted to remove the nut on top of the spring assembly.  I was able to keep the bolt from turning by using a vice-grip pliers on the head of the nut.
